Rose Garden

Description

Yee! Decorated lids! If you can't tell (and I hope you can), that is a rose on top of the lid. I did actually try to glaze it in a pink, but I had to wax it first in order to glaze the rest of the lid in light green, so I couldn't scratch all of the wax off.....which is why the rose looks mostly white. But I did manage to get a pink border on some of the rose petals. Some of the rose petals did chip off in the kiln while firing since they were so delicate...which was sad, but it looks allright with what's left.
I didn't take a picture of the sides - which I should've, but am too lazy to do now - but the handles of the pot are actually leaves, and the tendrils on the sides of the pot come from the leaves.

I will submit more pottery, so keep an eye out. They will eventually get better as I submit them...I hope.

If you'd like a face full of pot, then by all means full-view baby.

Technical shite:
It was terra cotta...? white clay, with some special custom-made glazes (not mine, but the instructor's obviously...im not rich enough to afford custom-made glazes...or tons of clay and a throwing wheel for that matter). I believe the "rutile blue" was my favorite glaze....*sigh* good times

Hats off to you for taking the time to dress up your lid. So many throwers are so lazy and lack the creativity to even atempt it.
Have you thought of brush painting your flowers and then waxing them to dip the lid?
